Philadelphia: Rebin Zulaka, a 34-year-old defender from Port FC, has etched his name in the history books by becoming the first player from the Thai League to participate in the FIFA World Cup finals. Zulaka, representing the Iraqi national team, took the field as a substitute during their second Group I match against France at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
According to Thai News Agency, Zulaka entered the match in the 60th minute, replacing Haid Tahzeen. Despite his participation, Iraq suffered a 0-3 defeat against the two-time former world champions, France. This loss marks Iraq's second consecutive defeat in the tournament, leaving them without points and positioned at the bottom of Group I.
Iraq is set to play their final Group I match against Senegal on June 27th at 2:00 AM, where they will aim to secure their first points of the competition.
