Bangkok: Region 2 Police Commander has issued a directive to 117 police stations, emphasizing the need to reevaluate and adjust the number of investigators to better align with work requirements. This initiative aims to enhance public service and ensure proper maintenance of facilities.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos Thepjamnong, the Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, has prioritized the functionality and presentation of police stations since assuming his role. He regards these stations as pivotal in safeguarding life and property, administering justice, and delivering public services. Given that Provincial Police Region 2 is a significant tourist hub, attention to public and tourist services is paramount. Lt. Gen. Yingyos has been actively assessing the readiness of police stations across various domains, including personnel, investigations, and traffic patrols, alongside the cleanliness and service readiness of the stations.
The Commander has instructed Provincial Police Commanders and station chiefs to evaluate the current number of investigators and ensure that staffing levels are sufficient for the workload. He stressed the importance of considering the health and stress levels of investigators and making necessary adjustments to maintain morale and efficiency in justice work at police stations.
Furthermore, Lt. Gen. Yingyos plans to conduct ongoing inspections of all aspects of police station readiness. His previous inspections revealed issues with cleanliness and organization, particularly in prisoner control rooms and toilets, which were found to be in poor condition. Consequently, an order has been issued for all 117 police stations within Provincial Police Region 2 to rectify these issues, ensuring both public service areas and prisoner control rooms are in proper order.
‘The accused are not prisoners. They are innocent according to the constitution. The detention room is a place of justice, not a place of inhuman detention. These images directly reflect the quality of the agency and its leadership. If they can’t even clean the area, there’s no need to talk about anything else. I would like to give direct orders to the commander, superintendent, deputy superintendent, police chief, police station chief, and all relevant officers at all levels to urgently investigate and fix the problem as soon as possible. No excuses allowed,’ emphasized the commander of Provincial Police Region 2.
