Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army has strongly condemned the bombings and arson attacks that targeted 11 gas stations across the Southern Border Provinces, labeling these acts as inhumane and a deliberate violation of the law. The Army's Commander-in-Chief, who also serves as the Deputy Director of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), has called for swift legal action to apprehend and prosecute those responsible.
According to Thai News Agency, the attacks occurred around 1:00 AM on January 11, 2026, affecting gas stations in the provinces of Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. These incidents have significantly threatened the safety of civilians and their properties, as well as disrupted public utilities, creating an atmosphere of fear and undermining efforts to maintain peace in the region.
Major General Winthai Suvari, a spokesman for the Royal Thai Army, stated that the Commander-in-Chief has instructed the ISOC Region 4 Forward Command to take immediate control of the situation and collaborate with relevant units to provide immediate relief to those impacted. The emphasis has been placed on enforcing the law rigorously to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice. The attacks, he stressed, represent a serious legal violation with far-reaching consequences for public peace.
The spokesperson further highlighted that these violent acts are in stark opposition to the principles of nonviolence upheld by international standards. He asserted that violence is not a viable solution and cannot be justified on any grounds. The army is urging perpetrators to halt such activities that threaten societal peace and calls upon all sectors to withdraw any support for these offenders. Public cooperation with authorities in providing information crucial for tracking and prosecuting the perpetrators is deemed essential for restoring lasting peace to the affected areas.
