Royal Thai Army Mobilizes Full Force for Southern Flood Relief

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army has mobilized its full force to assist the people in the South as the flood situation worsens.

According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Thai Army’s Disaster Relief Center is intensifying its efforts to expand assistance in the southern region, responding to the rapidly rising water levels caused by heavy overnight rainfall.

In Songkhla Province, various units such as the Special Task Force of the 5th Infantry Regiment, the 1st Infantry Battalion of the 153rd Infantry Regiment, and the Medical Battalion of the 15th Infantry Division are actively providing emergency services. These include transporting patients, distributing goods, and providing medical assistance. Disaster relief and medical personnel have been deployed to several districts, including Muang, Thung Yang Daeng, Thepha, Ranot, Sathing Phra, and Hat Yai, to ensure the safety and well-being of affected residents.

In Narathiwat Province, the flooding in Ba Cho District has rendered small vehicle travel impossible. The 1st Infantry Battalion of the 151st Infantry Regiment is facilitating traffic, while efforts in Mueang Narathiwat District focus on evacuating vulnerable populations to safer locations.

Efforts in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province include constructing a wave barrier in Hua Sai District to prevent coastal damage and distributing relief supplies in Na Bon District. The 105th Artillery Battalion is also providing assistance using flat-bottomed boats in Ron Phibun District.

In Pattani Province, the 2nd Infantry Battalion of the 153rd Infantry Regiment and the 44th Ranger Regiment are engaged in evacuating children and delivering consumer goods in Sai Buri and Thung Yang Daeng Districts, respectively.
