Royal Thai Army Soldier Severely Injured by Landmine in Sisaket Jungle

Sisaket: The Royal Thai Army has urgently notified the public of a soldier’s severe injury after stepping on a landmine in the jungle of Sisaket. A helicopter was dispatched to rescue him.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident was reported to the Royal Thai Army by the Suranaree Task Force at 9:30 a.m. on November 10, 2015. The soldier was on patrol in the Huai Ta Maria area of Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province when he encountered the landmine.

The explosion injured two personnel: Sergeant Major Thetsak Samapong, who sustained a grave injury with his right ankle severed, and Private First Class Wachira Panthana, who experienced chest pains due to the blast’s impact.

The Royal Thai Army has successfully airlifted both injured soldiers to Sapphasitthiprasong Hospital for treatment. Further details will be provided by the Royal Thai Army as they become available.
