Bangkok: Border incidents and floods have caused nearly 3 billion baht in damage to rubber plantations. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture revealed that fighting along the Thai-Cambodian border and floods in southern Thailand have caused over 2,995 million baht in damage to rubber plantations, resulting in a loss of more than 44,000 tons of rubber from the production system.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Winairoj Sapsongsook, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, stated that the fighting along the Thai-Cambodian border has directly affected agricultural areas, especially rubber plantations in several provinces where rubber tapping is still impossible. He noted that an assessment of the damage is currently underway and urgent assistance is being provided.
Assistance and relief are also being expedited for rubber farmers affected by the floods. The affected rubber plantations, impacted by both the floods in 9 southern provinces and the border situation in 7 provinces, have suffered damage totaling over 1,900,000 rai. This has resulted in losses exceeding 2,995 million baht and a loss of more than 44,000 tons of rubber from the production system.
