Moscow: Russia conducted large-scale military exercises simulating the use of nuclear power. Russia has released video footage claiming that personnel are transporting nuclear warheads to the Iskander-M mobile missile system for installation and undetected move to a launch site, as part of a large-scale nuclear exercise on Wednesday. The Russian Ministry of Defense issued a statement via state media saying that the military has conducted readiness training for its combat units to the highest level of combat preparedness for the use of nuclear weapons.
According to Thai News Agency, the three-day military exercises, which began on Tuesday across Russia and Belarus, come as Moscow faces what it describes as a national survival battle with the West over Ukraine, amid escalating tensions with NATO and Europe as a result of the war. The Russian Defense Ministry revealed on Tuesday that the exercise involves 64,000 personnel, more than 200 missile launchers, 140 aircraft, 73 surface warships, and 13 submarines. It will include tactical firing exercises for Russia's nuclear weapons based in Belarus.
Video footage of the training exercise shows Russian nuclear forces moving through dense forest, with camouflaged vehicles and missile launchers raised to a ready-to-fire position. The Iskander-M missile system has a maximum range of 500 kilometers, or approximately 310 miles, and can carry both nuclear and conventional warheads.
