Bangkok: "Ruttaphol" admits DSI found evidence of financial irregularities involving "Phawut" exceeding 28 million baht.

According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant General Rudupol Nawarat, Minister of Justice, commented on the ongoing investigation involving Mr. Pawut Pongwitayaphanu, a party-list MP from the People's Party. Mr. Pawut's lawyer has submitted documents requesting a postponement of a summons from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) in relation to a Forex trading case. While a postponement request was filed, the details and reasons behind it remain undisclosed.

The possibility of whether this move constitutes a delaying tactic remains unclear, as no specific timeframe was mentioned. However, it falls under legal procedures. The DSI is obligated to issue another summons in accordance with the law, allowing postponements to be requested twice. The issuance of an arrest warrant, should Mr. Pawut fail to appear, will be at the discretion of the DSI, based on the justification of the postponement request.

To date, the DSI's investigation has revealed additional funds totaling over 28 million baht. This includes the seizure of a server containing all transaction data from the company QRS. The connection between QRS and Mr. Pawut will be further scrutinized by the DSI, with details to be disclosed in due course. It is currently unclear whether these funds have any links to political parties.
