Suphan buri: "Saeng" explains that he is urging the Election Commission of Suphan Buri to investigate the conduct of the Election Commission members, noting that there are still 60 days to certify the MP for Constituency 2.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, addressed the delayed certification of the election results for Constituency 2 in Suphan Buri Province. He stated that the Suphan Buri Provincial Election Commission office is currently investigating the matter. Emphasizing the need to expedite the investigation, Mr. Saeng noted that they must await the results before making any decisions. He highlighted the 60-day legal timeframe for certification, with the investigation focusing on whether polling station officials acted correctly.
Concerning potential public suspicions of corruption involving a single individual, which could hinder official certification, Mr. Saeng mentioned that he is unaware of any such issues and that a conclusion can only be drawn following the investigation's results.
Reporters have indicated that Constituency 2 in Suphan Buri remains the sole constituency where the Election Commission has yet to certify the results due to a conducted recount. This recount uncovered significant discrepancies from the initial count, alongside allegations of dishonest or unfair conduct by Election Commission officials. The provincial Election Commission is actively investigating these concerns.
