Sakon nakhon: The governor of Sakon Nakhon has directed that a third-grade boy receive psychiatric treatment after he chased his teacher with a knife. The incident, which highlighted underlying family issues, has prompted a coordinated response from various local agencies.
According to Thai News Agency, the governor and related agencies convened a meeting to address the situation. The meeting revealed that the boy's father, a drug addict prone to violence, will be sent to a rehabilitation center, while the boy will undergo psychiatric treatment. The female teacher involved is being prepared for a transfer back to her hometown.
Ms. Ranida Lueangthitisakul, Governor of Sakon Nakhon Province, personally visited the school in Dongchon Subdistrict, where the incident occurred. She met with representatives from the local administration, police, and social services, as well as a team of psychiatrists from Sakon Nakhon Hospital, to discuss a resolution.
The boy's aggressive behavior is attributed to a troubled family environment, including his father's involvement in drugs and violence. His 76-year-old grandmother, who is his primary caregiver, has health problems and forgot to administer his medication on the day of the incident, leading to his erratic behavior.
The teacher, who was chased and attacked, expressed concern for the boy's future rather than anger. She became emotional during the meeting and sought comfort from medical professionals and the governor.
Plans are underway to place the boy's father in a rehabilitation center for several months, while the boy will continue receiving psychiatric care. The Deputy Minister of Education has been contacted to facilitate the teacher's transfer to her hometown in Roi Et Province.
To support the other students affected by the incident, therapeutic activities are being planned to help them recover from the trauma and re-establish a positive learning environment. The provincial authorities are committed to monitoring the situation to prevent similar incidents in the future and ensure the safety of educational institutions.
