Bangkok: "Sihasak" champions economic diplomacy, launching an aggressive Thai diplomatic strategy that remains neutral and draws on multiple factions to balance the global economy.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, the Bhumjaithai Party's prime ministerial candidate, has introduced the concept of "economic diplomacy" as an essential mechanism to propel Thailand forward amidst the challenges of a rapidly changing world. His vision includes a proactive role for ambassadors in economic matters, focusing on understanding Thailand's strengths, identifying key markets and technologies, and engaging with global companies to unlock new trade and investment avenues. The strategy also emphasizes supporting free trade negotiations and exploring new markets, including Central Asia and other emerging regions.
In the context of a multipolar global environment, Sihasak believes Thailand should not confine its relationships to just two superpowers. Instead, the country should strive for balance, prioritize its national interests, and cultivate strong ties with other influential blocs such as India, Japan, the European Union, Australia, and Korea. This approach is seen as a way to counterbalance the global situation, broaden Thailand's options, and mitigate the risk of conflicts. Additionally, Sihasak advocates for a new policy dubbed "Thailand to Africa," aiming to enhance Thailand's sustainable economic presence on the global stage.
