Bangkok: The Social Security Office (SSO) has announced a significant enhancement to its services as part of a New Year initiative aimed at improving the health and well-being of insured individuals. The Secretary-General of the SSO, Ms. Kanjana Poolkaew, revealed that starting in 2026, the influenza vaccination program for insured persons under Section 33 and Section 39, aged 50 and above, will now be available throughout the year. Previously offered only from May to August, the vaccination period will extend from January to December each year. The program involves 273 healthcare facilities participating in the social security program, provided they adhere to standards set by the Ministry of Public Health.
According to Thai News Agency, the vaccine offered is a trivalent influenza vaccine, which aligns with recommendations from the World Health Organization and the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health. In addition to the expanded vaccination program, the SSO is also enhancing benefits for insured persons under Section 40 under the initiative 'Enhanced Benefits for a Happy Life with Section 40'. This includes increased allowances for disability, child support, and income replacement in cases of injury or illness. Modifications have also been made regarding medical certificate criteria for COVID-19 cases and provisions for insured persons who pass away before reaching the age of 60 or before receiving old-age benefits.
The initiative is expected to benefit approximately 505,056 insured individuals under Section 40, with an estimated financial impact of 743.39 million baht. Moreover, new collaborations with private sector organizations have introduced special promotions and discounts, while the SSO Plus application now hosts a Section 40 market. This platform allows both insured persons and the general public to purchase products online, enhancing convenience and access to additional benefits.
To further streamline services, the Social Security Office has integrated the "Doctor Ready" digital medical certificate system with the Section 40 benefit reimbursement system via e-Self Service. This digital linkage is projected to benefit around 188,100 insured persons under Section 40. The new initiatives underscore the Social Security Office's dedication to ensuring equitable, modern, and accessible services for all insured individuals, ultimately aiming to enhance their quality of life.
