Bangkok: Former Election Commissioner Somchai Srisutthiyakorn has expressed concerns over the composition and capabilities of Anutin's second cabinet. In a message shared on his Facebook page, "Where are you going with this? - Somchai Srisutthiyakorn," he highlighted the cabinet as a mix of political successors and professionals facing a significant test in crisis management.
According to Thai News Agency, the newly announced cabinet consists of 35 members and is divided into three main groups. The first group comprises seasoned politicians holding onto key ministry positions primarily for political continuity. Among these are individuals like Suriya Phiphat, Suchart Ekanat, and Songsak Supamas, who have consistently served as ministers but do not inspire much public expectation.
The second group includes heirs from influential families, who are perceived as the new-generation politicians but owe their rise to their family names. Members like Chaiyanok, Jetseth, and Polpeera must demonstrate their capabilities beyond their inherited status to manage effectively in their roles.
The third group features professionals with proven success in both politics and their previous careers in public and private sectors. Notable figures such as Ekniti Sihasak and Supajee Pakorn represent hope for effective problem-solving in the country's current crisis.
Somchai advised vigilance regarding the first group to prevent them from self-serving actions. He urged patience with the second group, emphasizing the need for them to prove their skills without undue praise. Lastly, he expressed hope that the professionals in the third group could leverage their expertise to address the challenges posed by the global crisis impacting Thailand.
