Bangkok: The Bus Terminal Authority (BTA) anticipates a significant surge in passengers today as over 120,000 people are expected to travel during the ongoing Songkran festivities. This follows a busy day yesterday when more than 130,000 passengers were recorded traveling.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Atthawit Rakchamroon, Managing Director of Transport Co., Ltd. (BKS), disclosed that on April 10, 2026, a total of 133,588 passengers utilized bus services. Of these, 82,195 passengers departed from Bangkok, while 51,393 returned. This was facilitated by 6,851 trips, involving both BKS buses and partner buses, with 3,680 outbound and 3,171 return trips. The operations were managed efficiently, ensuring all passengers were transported without delay, with the last bus departing at 11:30 PM.
Today, approximately 120,000 travelers are projected to journey back to their hometowns or embark on trips, utilizing over 7,000 bus trips. In response to the increased demand during the Songkran festival, the government-owned bus company has arranged for about 1,200 additional non-scheduled 30-seat buses. Passengers are urged to verify their travel details and boarding locations as per their tickets and to allocate an extra hour to reach their destinations to mitigate traffic congestion.
