Bangkok: Sophon presented awards to outstanding youth, emphasizing the concept that being 'talented and good' is not enough; 'wisdom' is also essential. "Sophon" presented awards to outstanding youth, emphasizing the concept that being "talented and virtuous" is not enough; "wisdom" is also essential to lead a happy society and cope with the modern world. He also pledged to be a role model and entrusted the future of the nation to the younger generation.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sophon Saram, President of the Parliament and Speaker of the House of Representatives, delivered a speech at the awards ceremony for outstanding youth of the Council of Youth Organizations for Social Development and the awards for promoting and developing the potential of children and youth for the year 2026, under the theme "Good People, Talented People, Virtuous People, Creative Wisdom, Social Development," 4th time. He stated that youth development should not focus solely on being good, talented, or virtuous, and that knowledge alone is insufficient. Wisdom must also be included, as it is crucial for individuals to live and coexist happily with others in society and their families.

Mr. Sophon further stated that many parents work hard and build assets to provide their children with a good life. However, equally important as material possessions is instilling wisdom and morality in their children. Because if a child lacks wisdom, no matter how much wealth their parents have accumulated, they may not be able to maintain or benefit from it. Conversely, if a child possesses wisdom, they can create wealth even without assets. Parents should be good role models for their children; if they want their children to be good people, they must set a good example for them.

Mr. Sophon further stated that he intends to be a good role model for children and youth, inspiring them to develop themselves and cope with the changes and competition of the modern world. He noted that today's youth have more opportunities than previous generations, and therefore should use these opportunities to develop themselves. He emphasized that being a good person requires action, not just saying one is good. A good person is self-reliant, a source of support for others, and generous to others.

Mr. Sophon affirmed his intention to cooperate with the network of youth organizations for social development to expand projects and activities related to child and youth development. He also entrusted his hometown to the youth, urging them to be good children to their parents, society, and the nation.

The award ceremony was attended by 60 recipients from various educational institutions, including Charuwat School (Bangkok), Assumption Convent School Silom, Lertlah School Kanchanaphisek, Sribunyanon School, Srinakharinwirot University Demonstration School Ongkharak (Nakhon Nayok), Wat Sing High School (Bangkok), Ratchadamri School (Bangkok), Samchuk Rattanapokaram School (Suphan Buri), Yuparaj College (Chiang Mai), and Saint Gabriel's School (Chiang Mai).
