Bangkok: The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Sophon Saram, presided over a merit-making ceremony, inviting renowned monks to Parliament to offer lunch and participate in religious activities. The event took place at Banquet Hall 111, on the first floor of the Parliament Building.
According to Thai News Agency, 10 monks from various revered temples, including Wat Traimit Witthayaram, Wat Arun Ratchawararam, and Wat Wirachotithammaram, were present at the ceremony. Mr. Siroj Paetyapan, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, along with other executives, officials, and staff from the Office of the Secretary-General, also attended the event.
During the ceremony, the Speaker lit incense and candles to pay homage to the Triple Gem. Officials recited precepts and chanted Buddhist mantras, followed by monks giving blessings and chanting prayers. The Speaker then offered lunch to the monks and presented them with traditional Thai offerings.
The Speaker addressed the parliamentary officials, urging collaboration to improve the institution's image and emphasizing the importance of being cautious of negative influences. He stressed the need for moderation and encouraged officials to demonstrate their commitment through their work, aiming for positive outcomes.
