Supamas Directs Establishment of Middle East Press Center

Bangkok: "Supamas" instructs the Public Relations Department and MCOT to support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in establishing a press center for the situation in the Middle East. Minister Supamas, following Prime Minister Anutin's directive, instructed the Department of Public Relations and MCOT to support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in establishing a press center to provide updates on the situation in the Middle East, ensuring the public can closely follow the developments.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the government's policy, as announced by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, reflects concerns about the impact of the situation in the Middle East, particularly on the economy, energy, labor, and tourism. An urgent meeting was convened at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and via online system with ambassadors and relevant agencies in the Middle East to monitor the conflict and discuss measures to protect Thai citizens in the area. Furthermore, a press center was ordered to be established to urgently and comprehensively inform the public about the situation.

As the Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office overseeing the Public Relations Department and MCOT, I have assigned both media outlets to closely support the operations of the press center, coordinating with key agencies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and related ministries including the Ministry of Finance, Commerce, Labour, Tourism, and Sports.

Initially, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs established the "Joint Press Center on the Emergency Situation in the Middle East" to serve as a central information hub where the public can follow developments, assistance provided to affected Thai citizens abroad, and various situations that may impact Thailand. Press briefings will be held daily between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, starting Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Ms. Supamas reiterated that the public should follow press briefings from the Emergency Situation in the Middle East through official government channels, including the Spokesperson's Office, the Prime Minister's Secretariat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and major state media outlets such as the Public Relations Department and MCOT. Press briefings from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are broadcast daily at 6:05 PM, after the national anthem, on NBT2HD and online via Facebook/YouTube: Public Relations Department, NBT, NBT Connext, OTT channel: Prdee.go.th, television and radio stations under the Public Relations Department nationwide, MCOT Channel 9, and MCOT's radio and online networks.

The National Broadcasting Television of Thailand (NBT) has produced a special program titled "Why?" as a way to update the public on various situations. It airs every Monday to Friday from 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM on NBT channel, hosted by Mr. Kasemsan Veerakul and Mr. S. Korakoch Yodchai. NBT has also been tasked with closely monitoring the situation and keeping the public informed through regular news broadcasts, morning news, midday news, evening news, and hourly news updates.
