Bangkok: Mr. Surasak Panjaroenvorakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, recently visited the Tourist Police Headquarters to deliver policy guidelines focusing on the safety and convenience of tourists by leveraging technology. He stressed the importance of utilizing modern tools to enhance the efficiency of surveillance and response operations, aiming to bolster Thailand's reputation as a secure tourist destination.
According to Thai News Agency, during his visit, the Minister inspected the readiness of the Tourist Police personnel and deployed a fleet of 4 CCOC MOBILE operational vehicles and 32 Drone Surveillance vehicles, equipped with 128 drones. This initiative is part of the 'First Responder Control Area Security Enhancement Project,' designed to improve surveillance capabilities, monitoring, and rapid access to incident sites or tourist areas.
The project also included distributing 1,250 Smart Patrol equipment sets, comprising essential gear like body armor, reflective vests, communication radios, and tactical belts. Additionally, 450 stun guns and 900 automatic language translators were provided to enhance communication with foreign tourists and facilitate quick responses to incidents.
Mr. Surasak also visited the "Tourist Police Command and Control Center 1155," where he encouraged officers who provide round-the-clock services in eight languages. This center plays a vital role in receiving reports, offering assistance, and coordinating tourist care.
The Minister highlighted that safety is crucial for tourism, as travelers seek assurance of care and prompt assistance during emergencies, rather than solely focusing on a destination's beauty or service quality.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports is committed to collaborating with the Tourist Police Command and other agencies, integrating modern technology to elevate safety standards. This approach aims to improve operational efficiency and foster a travel environment that instills confidence, ultimately enhancing Thailand's tourism image and competitiveness for sustainable growth.
