Bangkok:Associate Professor Dr. Suwicha Paowaree, Director of the NIDA Poll Center, has emphasized the critical role of evidence in the upcoming no-confidence debate against the government. Speaking on the "Share the News" program on FM 100.5, he noted that while the debate is expected to be intense, with harsh accusations being made, the opposition's effectiveness depends on their ability to present clear supporting evidence.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Suwicha stressed that in today's information-rich era, the credibility of the opposition hinges on their evidence. Solid and verifiable information is necessary for applying pressure on the government and the ministers under scrutiny. Without this, reliance on rhetoric and repeated accusations could undermine their credibility.
The debate is scheduled to last three days, a timeframe deemed suitable by Dr. Suwicha, given that only a few key issues and ministers are the focus. Notably, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior, among others with specific allegations, are expected to be under intense examination.
Dr. Suwicha also pointed out the pressing need for the Bhumjaithai Party to address recent news reports involving its key figures. Failure to provide clear answers could lead to a Constitutional Court hearing, potentially affecting the party's political standing.
While no immediate signs of a parliamentary dissolution or government change are evident, a cabinet reshuffle could be on the horizon towards the end of this year or early next year. The parliamentary atmosphere is anticipated to remain charged, with ongoing protests and counter-arguments driven by the debates' intensity.
