Thai Army Condemns Cambodian Attacks on Civilians and Historical Sites

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army has issued a strong response to recent actions by Cambodian forces, stressing the unacceptability of attacks targeting civilians. The Thai military’s operations have been strictly limited to military targets, with an emphasis on upholding international principles and protecting non-combatants.

According to Thai News Agency, Army spokesman Major General Winthai Suvari announced that the army, supported by the air force and led by the 2nd Army Area, remains committed to limited response operations. These operations are conducted in strict adherence to international rules and aim to avoid harm to civilians on both sides. Despite this, Cambodian forces have reportedly engaged in actions that violate the Geneva Conventions by attacking civilian areas and historical sites.

Reports indicate that heavy weaponry has been used by Cambodia to target civilian locations, including significant sites such as Prasat Ta Muen Thom, Prasat Don Tuan, Ban Phue Gas Station, Kantharalak District in Sisaket Province, Phanom Dong Rak Hospital, civilian homes, and properties, as well as the Border Area Development Center in Kap Choeng District, Surin Province.

The Royal Thai Army has condemned these actions as unacceptable, particularly those affecting the lives and properties of civilians. The military has vowed to protect Thai sovereignty and uphold the nation’s dignity while ensuring the safety of its people through operations conducted under appropriate guidelines and regulations.
