Thai-Cambodian Border Operations Progressing as Planned, Targets Both Military and Scammer Networks

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army reports that border operations between Thailand and Cambodia are proceeding according to plan.

According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Thai Army has confirmed that its operations along the Thai-Cambodian border are unfolding as intended, with a focus on achieving military objectives and disrupting transnational scammer networks. Major General Winthai Suvari, spokesman for the Royal Thai Army, stated that the military activities are being conducted under strict control, with the primary goal of safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and the safety of the population.

A Thai army spokesperson explained that while the operations primarily target military installations, certain locations initially appearing as civilian structures are in fact being utilized for military purposes. These sites function as command and control hubs for military strategies, staging areas for troops and weaponry, and preparation sites for armed drone operations against Thai forces. Consequently, these locations have become military targets.

Additionally, these areas are known to facilitate both military activities and serve as bases for global scamming organizations. The military’s counter-insurgency efforts are expected to directly affect these scammers, significantly disrupting and limiting their operations.

The spokesperson further noted that there have been attempts by these groups to relocate, indicating increased pressure on the operational capabilities of transnational criminal networks. Monitoring of online information and global media coverage suggests a noticeable decline in online fraud activities worldwide.

The Royal Thai Army reiterated its commitment to national security, citizen protection, and the reduction of transnational threats, ensuring compliance with international and humanitarian laws. It emphasized the importance of combating scammers and transnational crime as a global responsibility, highlighting Thailand’s readiness to continue collaborating with the international community.
