Thai Consulate-General in Dubai Successfully Repatriates Stranded Teachers and Students

Dubai: The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai has successfully facilitated the return of 30 teachers and students who were stranded in the city after attending a sports competition.

According to Thai News Agency, the Consulate-General coordinated with Emirates Airlines to ensure priority seating for the group and provided morale-boosting support in the form of Thai food. The group, which included students, parents, and teachers from an international school, secured flight tickets and departed for Thailand on the morning of March 4th, 2026, via Emirates Airlines flight EK370. They arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport the same day at approximately 6:30 PM, with Consulate-General officials and staff present to assist at the airport.

This Emirates flight marked the first direct journey from Dubai to Thailand since increased tensions in the Middle East led to the cancellation of over 2,000 flights, affecting more than 30,000 passengers in the UAE. UAE authorities have reported that nearly 18,000 stranded passengers have already been repatriated. Airlines such as Emirates, flydubai, and Air Arabia have begun resuming flights, prioritizing repatriation efforts.

The Consulate-General continues to monitor the situation closely and is providing necessary support and advice to Thai nationals affected by the disruptions. Efforts are ongoing to coordinate with major airlines to facilitate the return of stranded Thai citizens to Thailand as quickly as possible.
