Thai King Endorses New Cabinet Under PM Anutin

Thailand: Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn has officially endorsed the new cabinet lineup under Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, according to a royal decree published in the Royal Gazette on Monday.

According to Thai News Agency, the announcement, effective immediately, formalizes the "Anutin 2" administration following the Prime Minister's initial appointment on March 19, 2026.

The new government features a strategic blend of political heavyweights and prominent technocrats. Key appointments include Pipat Ratchakitprakarn as Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister, and Ekniti Nitithanprapas, who takes on the dual role of Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister. Suphajee Suthumpun joins as Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister, while Sihasak Phuangketkeow has been named Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. Notably, Prime Minister Anutin will concurrently serve as the Minister of Interior, while Akanat Promphan takes the helm at the Ministry of Energy.

Pheu Thai Party, the primary coalition partner, holds key positions including Yodchanan Wongsawat as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation. Yodchanan, an associate professor and nephew of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, brings an academic background to the science and technology portfolio.

The formation of the new administration follows a general election in which the Bhumjaithai Party secured a decisive majority. Backed by a coalition commanding approximately 290 seats in Parliament, the government is scheduled to deliver its official policy statement in early April before beginning its four-year mandate.
