Thai Officials Arrested for Allegedly Using Forged ID Cards

Bangkok: Four officials from the Department of Provincial Administration were arrested and taken to the Anti-Corruption Division of the Royal Thai Police for allegedly using forged national ID cards.

According to Thai News Agency, the Anti-Corruption Division of the Royal Thai Police stated that the suspects were brought to the division's headquarters on charges related to the fraudulent use of identity cards.

Police officers from the Anti-Corruption and Misconduct Suppression Division (ACMSD) escorted the four officials from the Wang Noi District in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province to the Central Investigation Bureau headquarters. The charges involve using these forged identification cards to identify individuals who were not eligible. Despite attempts by the press to gather comments, the suspects remained silent during their transfer to the ACMSD headquarters.

Investigators are set to conduct a detailed interrogation of the suspects. Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat Panakaew, Deputy Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, is expected to provide further details on the case in a press conference scheduled to be held at the Wang Noi District Office in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.
