Bangkok: Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has ordered a joint task force of police, military, and anti-money laundering officials to suppress the smuggling of fuel into neighboring Cambodia.

According to Thai News Agency, the move follows a viral video posted by a Cambodian national showing the ship-to-ship transfer of fuel in open waters. The footage, which has since been deleted, clearly displayed a vessel flying a Thai national flag with large hoses connected to another boat. In the clip, the individual boasted about obtaining fuel at low prices, fueling public outrage as Thai citizens continue to face volatile domestic energy costs.

"We have deployed forces to arrest, suppress, and prosecute those involved," Anutin told reporters on Thursday. He confirmed that the government is targeting groups hoarding fuel and those illegally diverting subsidized supplies for export to avoid customs duties.

When questioned about the masterminds behind the operation, Anutin revealed that it is organized in a company format. He added that Justice Minister is scheduled to provide a detailed report on the investigation today.
