Bangkok: The Thai Way Network has taken a definitive stance against the proposed amendment to the Constitution by submitting a formal letter to the Senate. The group's leader, Nattanant Pongphuripat, spearheaded the initiative, delivering the letter directly to Senators Pisit Apiwattanapong, Nichapa Suwannanak, and Maneerat Khemavong. The letter articulates the group's desire for a government that prioritizes the nation's benefit and its citizens, free from corruption, and advocates for clean, transparent, and accountable politics. The network stresses the need for a morally upright system that resists monopolizing power and benefits while promoting equality.
According to Thai News Agency, the senators acknowledged the receipt of the letter and expressed their intention to thoroughly evaluate the contents. They interpreted the Thai Way Network's actions as a positive indication of public engagement with democratic values. The senators underscored the importance of consensus-building and respecting diverse perspectives, which they believe are essential traits for citizens in a democratic society. They also urged eligible voters to participate actively in the upcoming election of members of parliament and the referendum on constitutional amendments scheduled for Sunday, February 8, 2026, at designated polling stations.
The senators emphasized that, regardless of differing opinions, each voice holds equal importance in the democratic process. They highlighted that societal decisions should be made based on comprehensive and accurate information, free from distortion, which is the foundation of democracy.
