Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has mandated that party executives strictly adhere to their roles during the parliamentary elections to maintain integrity and fairness. Those found guilty of election fraud face a 20-year political ban.
According to Thai News Agency, the ECT underscored the necessity for executive committees and political party boards to diligently oversee their members and officeholders. Any involvement in actions compromising election integrity or violating constitutional laws and regulations will result in the entire committee's dismissal. Dismissed members will face a 20-year prohibition from holding political positions or participating in political activities.
The ECT's directive aims to ensure that political parties operate under the law, fostering strong political institutions within a constitutional monarchy. This measure is intended to ensure elections are conducted honestly and fairly, aligning with legal standards.
