Bangkok: Thaksin Shinawatra, the former Prime Minister of Thailand, is reportedly suffering from high blood pressure and has refrained from addressing questions about his involvement in a controversial photoshoot with the Indian government. His daughter, Aem Pinthongtha Shinawatra Kunakornwong, visited him at Klong Prem Central Prison alongside her brother, Panthongtae Shinawatra.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Pinthongtha expressed her ongoing concern for her father’s health, noting that it had been three months since her last visit. She shared that Thaksin continues to struggle with high blood pressure, prompting her daily worries. She extended her gratitude to the media and the Red Shirts before leaving the prison.

Reporters sought clarification on a social media post by Prof. Dr. Pavin Chachavalpongpun, a political refugee affiliated with the Southeast Asia Center at Kyoto University. The post included a photo suggesting a connection between Thaksin and Mr. Lalit Modi. However, neither Ms. Pinthongtha nor her husband, Mr. Natthaphong, responded to questions on the matter before their departure.

Attempts to gain insight into Panthongtae Shinawatra’s discussion with his father also proved futile, as Panthongtae smiled but opted not to comment. Thaksin’s attorney, Winyat Chatmontri, exited the prison grounds without providing any statements to the media, particularly concerning the contentious topic of Thaksin’s relationship with Lalit.
