Bangkok: Thammanat Phromphao, the chief advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, stated the Ministry of Agriculture's work is far from easy or comfortable, as it involves much more than sitting in air-conditioned offices. He emphasized the technical nature of agriculture and the need for discussions and personal endorsements, underlining that the Ministry of Commerce should not misunderstand or claim credit for these responsibilities.
According to Thai News Agency, Captain Thammanat addressed the complexities of managing the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives after his two terms as Minister, acknowledging politicians' interest in the ministry post-election. He highlighted the practical implementation focus of the ministry and the challenges in exporting agricultural products, recounting his personal involvement in signing off on exports during his past tenure.
When questioned about the Ministry of Commerce's potential overreach regarding agricultural products, Captain Thammanat described the goods as technical and involving negotiations with specific groups. He stressed the importance of continued operations within the Ministry of Agriculture to avoid public suffering, citing a recent Land Reform Office meeting chaired by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
Reporters also inquired about Thammanat's willingness to step down from his position. He humorously deflected with a rhetorical question about the definition of love and urged patience with the current government, emphasizing that the people's suffering should not be prolonged.
