Bangkok: Thammanat Phromphao, a key figure in the Kla Tham Party and a candidate for prime minister, has announced a series of major rallies to be held in Roi Et and Khon Kaen on January 12-13, as part of a broader strategy to secure parliamentary seats in Pathum Thani Province.
According to Thai News Agency, Thammanat has received backing from General Prawit Wongsuwan, known as "Big Jazz," who is supporting the party's efforts to win all four seats in the province.
Captain Thammanat expressed gratitude towards Police Lieutenant General Kamronwit Thupkrachang, the Governor of Pathum Thani, for facilitating the Kla Tham Party's presence in the area. He remarked that their campaign hopes are materializing, with plans for a significant rally in Pathum Thani. Thammanat acknowledged discussions with Pol. Gen. Kamronwit regarding political strategies, emphasizing the importance of senior figures' support.
Thammanat is optimistic about securing 4-5 constituencies in Pathum Thani, despite the popularity of rival parties like the Orange Party. He highlighted his strategic approach and his military background as key assets in the campaign. He also noted his active involvement in addressing local issues, such as being present during floods and supporting the agricultural sector.
The Kla Tham Party is aiming to engage with the youthful population of Pathum Thani, with Thammanat indicating that the party's executive committee will assist in these efforts. He plans to attend all 17 major rallies, starting with those in Roi Et and Khon Kaen, and will continue campaigning in key locations like Bangkok.
Thammanat emphasized his commitment to a respectful campaign, stating that while he holds grievances against other parties, he refrains from personal attacks. He warned against underhanded tactics and hinted at possessing information that could be used strategically if necessary.
Despite the competitive nature of the campaign, Thammanat expressed his readiness to cooperate with other parties post-election. He reiterated his respect for General Prawit Wongsuwan, following the latter's resignation as leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, and underscored his own integrity and loyalty to his allies and mentors.
