The People’s Party Unveils New Strategy for Overhauling Thai Education System

Bangkok: The People's Party has introduced its education management team, highlighting a critical shift in the Thai education system.

According to Thai News Agency, the party released a video titled "The Professionals" episode 3, featuring Associate Professor Dr. Anuchat Puangsamlai, who previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Learning Sciences and Education at Thammasat University, as a key member of the education administration team.

Associate Professor Dr. Anuchat expressed concerns about the current state of the Thai education system, which he described as a source of widespread suffering in society. He criticized the outdated "2008 Core Curriculum" and the Time-Based Education system that prioritizes duration over actual learning outcomes. This approach, he argues, leaves students lagging behind their international peers and has been perpetuated by frequent political changes that disrupt educational policy continuity.

Dr. Anuchat emphasized that significant reforms might require more than one political term to achieve sustainable change. The People's Party's vision is to revitalize schools as places of happiness and to foster individuals who are globally aware. The party's four-year plan focuses on creating a "learning ecosystem" in which all educational stakeholders, including parents, play an active role.

The proposed reforms also include reducing centralized control to accommodate regional diversity and shifting the curriculum focus towards practical skills relevant to the modern world. This strategy aims to transform the education system into a dynamic entity capable of evolving independently and meeting contemporary challenges.
