Bangkok: Former Finance Minister Teerachai Poovanatnaruban has announced his resignation as the Palang Pracharath Party’s prime ministerial candidate. This decision follows the resignation of General Prawit Wongsuwan, the party leader, from the same candidacy.
According to Thai News Agency, Poovanatnaruban expressed that his involvement with the party was rooted in his faith in the leadership of General Prawit Wongsuwan. With Wongsuwan stepping down, Poovanatnaruban felt it was appropriate to retreat from his political roles. Consequently, he has also resigned from his positions as deputy party leader and member of the party’s executive committee.
Poovanatnaruban extended his gratitude to the party leader and his colleagues for the opportunity to contribute significantly. He expressed his hope for the party’s success in the forthcoming election, stating his intention to return to his role as an independent academic.
