Three More Bodies Recovered from Collapsed State Audit Office Building in Chatuchak

Bangkok: This morning, three additional bodies were recovered from the collapsed State Audit Office building, bringing the total number of bodies found to five since midnight last night. Some of the bodies were discovered with the assistance of K9 dogs that have been diligently working at the site.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suriyachai Rawiwan, Director of the Bangkok Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office (DDPM), held a press conference to update on the situation following the building’s collapse in the Chatuchak District. He reported that between last night and this morning, a total of five bodies were found. The first body was located around 10 pm, followed by another at 3 am, and the remaining three were discovered this morning. All the bodies recovered were located in Zone D, with K9 dogs playing a crucial role in the search efforts.

The ongoing operation continues to focus on expediting the search for victims. The heavy machinery, which operates around the clock, has experienced some wear and tear, leading to the need for replacements and causing occasional interruptions. The extraction of cement slabs, beams, and large pillars from Zone A presents additional challenges, as these structures have fallen and obstructed the search path. The Health Department has been actively involved, conducting regular disinfection sprays every Wednesday and Saturday to ensure safety at the site.
