Twenty Thai Sailors Return After Attack on Cargo Ship in Hormuz

Bangkok: Twenty Thai crew members of the bulk carrier Mayuree Naree arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Monday morning, five days after their vessel was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Thai News Agency, the sailors, visibly exhausted and carrying minimal belongings, were escorted directly to a waiting bus. Officials stated the group declined media interviews due to physical fatigue. Most of their possessions remain aboard the crippled vessel, which was severely damaged in the stern.

The return was facilitated by a coordinated operation between Thai embassies in Muscat and Abu Dhabi and the Royal Navy of Oman. The crew was evacuated from Khasab, Oman, to the UAE before flying to Bangkok on tickets provided by the ship's owner, Precious Shipping PCL. While 20 have returned, the fate of three colleagues remains the government's top priority.
