Chiang mai: Actress "Ung-Ing," the nickname for former Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, continued her campaign efforts in Chiang Mai, receiving an enthusiastic reception from local residents, vendors, and young people. She is actively rallying support for the Pheu Thai Party's parliamentary candidate, Dr. Teerapat Tanpiriyakul, in Chiang Mai's District 1.
According to Thai News Agency, "Ung-Ing" visited the historic Warorot Market, known locally as Kad Luang, where she was warmly welcomed by shoppers and market vendors. They surrounded her with flowers and garlands, expressed their encouragement, and took photos with her. During her market walk, she engaged with the public, purchased kalamae-a traditional Thai sweet-and solicited votes. She also took the opportunity to introduce the party's parliamentary candidates to Arunsi Phuangphruksa, an 83-year-old owner of a well-known newspaper stand in the market, a place frequented by politicians, including her father, Thaksin Shinawatra, during his youth. Arunsi shared old photographs and stories with "Ung-Ing" and Dr. Joe, fostering a friendly and encouraging campaign atmosphere.
Following her visit to Kad Luang market, Ms. Paetongtarn also met with young people in Chiang Mai. The Pheu Thai Party is keen to secure all 10 parliamentary seats in the region, aiming to improve upon their previous performance when the People's Party captured 7 seats, leaving Pheu Thai with 2 seats and Kla Tham with 1. Beyond Chiang Mai, Ms. Paetongtarn plans to extend her campaign efforts to Chiang Rai in support of Pheu Thai candidates.
