Sikao: Police in Trang Province are urgently searching for the culprit responsible for the gruesome murder and burning of four bodies found in a palm plantation in the Sikao District. Authorities have identified the deceased, which has intensified efforts to locate the perpetrator.
According to Thai News Agency, officers from the Sikao Police Station were dispatched to the oil palm plantation in Village 1 following a report of a murder involving burning. The crime scene, located more than 5 kilometers from the Trang-Sikao road, revealed dozens of car tires and remnants that appeared to be human flesh and organs. Forensic teams discovered three bodies among the ashes, which have been sent for autopsy.
Leading the investigation, Pol. Maj. Gen. Phatthawich Keetmotaniyakul, alongside officers from various divisions, conducted a thorough inspection of the area. The palm plantation featured a deserted concrete hut, and evidence such as traces of blood, bullet casings, and oil gallons were collected. Further inspection 500 meters away uncovered another burned and buried body, reduced to a skeleton, suggesting a death over a month prior.
Investigations revealed that the first three bodies were garden workers, identified by personal items such as iron rods used to support their legs. Among them was Mr. Surachet, the foreman of the plantation. His son, Mr. Ruangsak, reported that his father, typically home by 6 pm, was unreachable on the day of the incident. Subsequent searches led to the discovery of the crime scene, prompting police involvement.
The plantation, a frequent target for thieves despite strict patrols, spans over 170 rai and requires vigilant oversight. It is suspected that the murders stemmed from conflicts over palm oil theft, supported by evidence of harvested produce and foreign utensils at the scene. Investigators believe at least four individuals were involved in the murders and subsequent theft of a pickup truck belonging to one of the victims. The police are actively gathering evidence and have mobilized a team to apprehend those responsible.
