US and Israel Intensify Assaults on Iran as Conflict Enters Third Day

Bangkok: The US and Israel have persisted in their offensive against Iran, marking the third consecutive day of hostilities. The continued conflict comes in the wake of the US's major offensive on February 28, which resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, alongside over 40 other high-ranking officials.

According to Thai News Agency, US President Donald Trump has emphasized the objective of the operations is to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities and developing missile programs that pose threats to the US and its allies. The campaign is projected to last 4 to 5 weeks, during which Trump has reported the destruction of nine Iranian military command posts, warships, and a naval building. He has urged Iranian military personnel to surrender, offering protection to those who comply, while warning of severe consequences for those who resist. Despite the ongoing conflict, Trump mentioned there is no long-term plan for Iran, acknowledging the current political vacuum in the country.

Israeli forces have also played a significant role, with the Israeli military confirming control over Tehran's airspace and conducting targeted strikes on security agencies. The Israeli campaign aims to destabilize the Iranian government and incite public protests. In retaliation for the assassination of Khamenei, Hezbollah, an Iranian ally, launched missile and drone attacks on Israel, prompting Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, specifically targeting regions south of Beirut and the Beqaa Valley.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has retaliated by attacking US and British oil tankers in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, in addition to launching drone and missile strikes on military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. The IRGC has also targeted Israel with missile attacks, resulting in nationwide sirens and significant casualties, including deaths reported in Beit Shemesh, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait.
