Minneapolis: A 37-year-old female immigrant was shot and killed by federal immigration officers in Minneapolis, a violent incident that has ignited widespread outrage amidst President Donald Trump's stringent immigration policies. Local authorities identified the victim as Renee Nicole Good, stating that her life was taken while visiting a neighbor. Calls for the immediate removal of immigration officers from Minneapolis have intensified following the incident.
According to Thai News Agency, authorities claimed the shooting was an act of self-defense, asserting that Good attempted to ram their vehicle. Officers fired three shots, with at least one striking the driver's seat. Good subsequently drove away, crashing into a lamppost and a parked car. Despite emergency medical personnel's efforts to revive her, Good succumbed to her injuries.
President Trump defended the officer's actions, labeling Good a "professional troublemaker" and supporting the self-defense claim. Homeland Security Secretary Christy Nome echoed this sentiment, stating that Good had been disrupting officers, blocking and attempting to ram an officer's vehicle.
However, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey refuted the government's claims, arguing that video footage contradicted their narrative. This dispute has fueled calls for protests across various cities, potentially escalating the incident into a national debate over the Trump administration's immigration enforcement strategies in Democratic regions.
