Caracas: Venezuela's acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, has announced a seven-day period of national mourning following the deaths of soldiers during a U.S. raid aimed at arresting Venezuelan President Nicol¡s Maduro. This declaration comes as the nation grapples with the aftermath of the incident.
According to Thai News Agency, the Venezuelan government reported that over 20 soldiers lost their lives during the U.S. special operations raid on January 3, which targeted President Maduro. The raid has sparked a strong response from Venezuelan authorities, who are now taking measures to protect key national interests.
Cuba also reported casualties from the incident, announcing that 32 Cuban military and police officers serving in Venezuela were killed. In response, Cuba declared a two-day period of mourning, highlighting the international ramifications of the operation.
In addition to declaring the mourning period, Acting President Rodriguez has instructed strategic agencies to safeguard Venezuela's manufacturing sector.
