Bangkok: Messages and links are being shared on social media that falsely use the name and logo of PTT, stating "PTT - New Year 2026 Gift" and inviting people to complete a survey for a chance to win 10,000 baht. The "Check Before Sharing" center has verified that the shared message and link are a phishing scam. Investigations revealed that the website in question was created to impersonate PTT (the Thai PTT organization) in order to gain credibility, with the goal of deceiving people into believing they have won a major New Year prize.
According to Thai News Agency, the scammers begin by luring victims into a false sense of security with a simple four-question questionnaire, such as asking if they know PTT, their age, and gender. They then proceed to a gift box opening game, where the system is rigged to prevent the player from finding anything on the first try, making it seem realistic. The system then rigs the result to ensure the victim receives 10,000 baht on subsequent attempts. Once the victim believes they've won, the system continues the deception by requiring them to share a link with friends on LINE or Facebook to receive the money. Ultimately, the user receives no prize; it's a ploy to spread a malicious link.
Furthermore, suspicious comments are found in the website's comment section. The scammers create fake accounts (shills) using foreign names and photos but with Thai text that appears to be translated from a foreign language, commenting to confirm receipt of winnings and further deceiving victims.
