Hanoi: Vietnam is projected to export approximately $4 billion worth of durian in 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, Vietnamese media reported that the value of Vietnam's durian exports is expected to reach nearly 50 percent of the country's total fruit and vegetable exports by that year.
The Foreign Trade Office under Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade highlighted that China remains a key market for Vietnamese durian. The growth of the durian industry is significantly influenced by China's demand. However, there is an anticipated decline in exports during the first half of 2025 due to stricter controls imposed by China on pesticide residue levels and technical standards.
Despite this, the report notes that exports have shown recovery since the third quarter of 2025. Businesses have been proactive in developing standards for agricultural areas, packaging plant codes, and traceability systems. Relevant agencies have also collaborated to address technical challenges.
As of the end of November 2025, Vietnam had exported nearly 885,000 tons of durian to China, generating revenue of approximately $3.24 billion. The value of these exports underscores the importance of the Chinese market in Vietnam's agricultural export sector.
