Bangkok: Yotchanan Wongsawat, the prime ministerial candidate for the Pheu Thai Party, along with party leaders and parliamentary candidates, visited Samut Sakhon province to discuss issues faced by the local fishing industry. The meeting at the Samut Sakhon Fisheries Association in Mueang District aimed to gather insights and suggestions from fishing industry entrepreneurs.

According to Thai News Agency, the visit included party figures such as Chakraphong Saengmanee, Wisut Chaiyanarun, Pongkavin Chulrungruangkit, and Suksit Srijomkhwan. Udom Kanmuang, the parliamentary candidate for Samut Sakhon Constituency 1, number 7, facilitated the discussions. The representatives from fisheries associations focused on legal, regulatory, and operational challenges that affect the costs, competitiveness, and livelihoods of workers in the fishing sector.

The Pheu Thai Party acknowledged that Samut Sakhon's issues extend beyond fishing, touching on infrastructure, traffic, cost of living, and wages. However, this visit specifically aimed to address the persistent challenges in the fishing industry, recognizing the need for systematic, long-term solutions.

The party emphasized that resolving issues in the fisheries sector demands a comprehensive approach. This includes managing the entire supply chain, addressing legislative and administrative structures, and involving experienced individuals from the sector in solution development. Such an approach aims to create policies that genuinely reflect the needs of entrepreneurs and workers.

Before the discussions, Yotchanan and his team paid respects at the Samut Sakhon City Pillar Shrine, receiving red roses from locals who expressed their hope for Yotchanan's future as Prime Minister. Mongkol Sukcharoenkana, President of the Thai Fisheries Association, provided an overview of the fishing situation along the Tha Chin River.
