Bangkok: "Yotchanan" believes he's on the right track after poll results show him leading, and is focusing on in-depth communication.
According to Thai News Agency, Yotsanan revealed he's on the right track after achieving the highest poll score, confident of reclaiming the parliamentary seats in Lamphun and Chiang Mai. He emphasized the need to remain vigilant and continue communicating his policies in depth. Meanwhile, Suriya boasted about his achievements during his time as Minister of Transport, declining to elaborate on the issue of his nephew, saying the matter is already causing a stir.
At 1:30 PM, Mr. Yotsanu Wongsawat, the Pheu Thai Party's prime ministerial candidate, was interviewed about the poll results showing him as the number one candidate for prime minister. Regarding how to further boost the party's popularity, he stated that the current standings are very close. The most important thing is that it shows we are on the right track. We are pursuing policies that position us as leaders who can connect with everyone, and we are continuously communicating new policies in depth to clearly demonstrate that our actions are something the country can rely on. He believes there is still about a month left, and that the positive reception has exceeded expectations. At the same time, he sees room for improvement. Our campaigning in the provinces has only just begun, and we believe that if we can better communicate our policies in each area, everyone will give the Pheu Thai Party a chance.
Regarding his confidence in being able to regain votes for Pheu Thai in Lamphun and Chiang Mai provinces, which were previously strongholds, Mr. Yotsanan said that after visiting the areas, he is more confident. He said he is trying to communicate from the perspective of the people of the North that they have been working in these areas for a long time. He observed that while some MPs from the last election may have disappeared, they have not been absent from the area. This is what has brought people back and given them strong support. He said that the atmosphere in the area this morning was lively. He hopes that this will show the people his determination, and he believes they can win back both Lamphun and Chiang Mai provinces for Pheu Thai. However, he cautioned against complacency. The most important thing is to continue building understanding of the policies that have been announced, and there are more policies ready to be revealed towards the end.
Regarding whether the unveiled policies will win over the public, Mr. Yotsanan said that they can win over certain groups. From his fieldwork, he observed policy gaps where certain groups were unable to support themselves, impacting the economy and employment. Therefore, he wants to stimulate the economy to move the country forward.
Suriya Jungrungruangkit, the Pheu Thai Party's prime ministerial candidate, added that during his time as Minister of Transport, he studied and implemented several projects that he had prepared, such as the San Klang interchange, the ring road intersecting with Highway 317 to San Kamphaeng district. These projects were undertaken to solve traffic problems in Chiang Mai province.
In addition, I will look into the electric train project, as Chiang Mai currently has considerable traffic congestion. A light rail system in Chiang Mai could help alleviate this. Importantly, during my time as Minister of Transport, I also implemented policies regarding Chiang Mai Airport. You can see that Chiang Mai Airport has undergone significant changes in terms of both aesthetics and convenience. Furthermore, there will be a new airport under construction, for which site studies are underway. This will help support tourism and reduce noise pollution for the public, as the current Chiang Mai Airport is located in the city center.
When asked if he thought his grandson could handle the difficult things he had accomplished, Mr. Suriya laughed before saying, "I think just saying that is enough to create quite a stir."
