Buriram: "Yotchanan" invaded Buriram, riding in a parade float to help a candidate campaign. Yotschanan campaigned in Buriram, riding in a parade float and walking through the market to support "Mai Ainamm" and the 10 parliamentary candidates. He said he wasn't lonely with "Shane" (his supporter) by his side. He declared that this is Thai land, and no one owns it, believing that the Thai people will give him a chance. Villagers welcomed him, shouting, "My heart is already with the Pheu Thai Party!"
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, the Pheu Thai Party's prime ministerial candidate, and his team continued their campaign in Phutthaisong District, Buriram Province, to support Mr. Mai Sukdecha, or Mai, the drummer of the band Ainame, who is running for Member of Parliament in Buriram Constituency 5 against Mr. Sophon Saram, a former multi-term MP from the Bhumjaithai Party.
Upon arriving at Wat Hong, Phutthaisong District, Buriram Province, Mr. Yotsanan approached the 10 parliamentary candidates for Buriram and said, "You've all done well. I offer my encouragement to all 10 constituencies. May you all remain strong." He then led the 10 candidates to pay respects and apply gold leaf to the Buddha statue for good fortune. The candidates stated that they hoped Mr. Yotsanan would become Prime Minister, attributing his success to Mr. Chen's help in boosting public support in the area, and that they were ready to fight in all 10 constituencies. Mr. Yotsanan responded, "Pheu Thai can do it!"
Meanwhile, villagers and students continuously came to ask to take photos with Mr. Yotchanan. One elderly woman said, "I want to take a picture with my favorite mayor." Some said, "He's so handsome, even more so than a movie star."
Then, Mr. Yotsanan and his team boarded a parade float from Wat Hong to the Phutthaisong Municipal Fresh Market. Along the way, Mr. Yotsanan gave speeches soliciting support for the Pheu Thai Party's parliamentary candidates in all 10 constituencies of Buriram. He also introduced "Mai Ainamm" (Mai's nickname) to serve the people, stating that Mai wouldn't be lonely anymore because she had Chen with her. He affirmed that the Pheu Thai Party is ready to improve the quality of life for the people of Buriram, assist farmers, and stimulate tourism and sports.
Along the way, people lined the streets to welcome them, waving, shouting greetings, and saying, "Our hearts are with the Pheu Thai Party."
Then, Mr. Yotsanan walked around meeting vendors and the public at the Phutthaisong Municipal Fresh Market, where vendors and members of the public were waiting to welcome him. They presented him with garlands of marigolds and garlands of Chinese oranges, and applauded to encourage Mr. Yotsanan and the candidates.
Mr. Yotsanan, in an interview regarding today's campaign visit to Buriram province, and whether the Pheu Thai Party could win 1-2 seats, stated that he believes no one has a "base," because this is Thai soil, and everyone has equal rights to vote. This is what they are trying to communicate in their policies to the public. He also mentioned that they will be campaigning in the South on January 28th, and that they don't see anyone as belonging to anyone in particular, but rather that all Thais are Thai and have the right to listen to the policies of all parties.
When pressed on whether the incumbent, who have consistently held onto their positions, could win over the people's hearts with policies and parliamentary candidates, Mr. Yotsanan said that Thais always give each other a chance, and he believes that Thais will look at policies. He acknowledged that many things are happening now as a result of systemic changes and communication shifts, contributing to Thailand's high-income status. He thinks the public is watching closely. Issues such as systemic debt relief and the 30% agricultural profit guarantee have been well-received by farmers, as has the 30-baht universal healthcare policy.
