Bangkok: "Yotchanan" and "Suriya" lead the Pheu Thai Party team to the Khlong Toei community, engaging with residents and discussing key issues. The community proposed policies for housing development and expressed their hopes for Yotsanan's success in becoming Prime Minister, to which Suriya responded that such aspirations could be realized if Pheu Thai leads the government.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Yotsanun Wongsawat, Pheu Thai Party's prime ministerial candidate, and Mr. Suriya Jungrungruangkit, Election Director and also a prime ministerial candidate for the Pheu Thai Party, were joined by several party members, including Mr. Kittiratt Na Ranong, former Deputy Prime Minister, as they campaigned in the Khlong Toei community. The campaign aimed to support Ms. Bunyakorn Damrongrat, Pheu Thai Party's candidate for Bangkok Constituency 4, and to listen to the local residents' issues and concerns.
During the visit, Mr. Yotsanan met with community leader Mrs. Prateep Ungsongtham Hata and was welcomed by local residents who expressed their support by presenting flowers. Residents highlighted the need for housing solutions, proposing the allocation of 20% of the Khlong Toei port land for new community development, contingent on the Pheu Thai Party forming the government. This proposal aims to address social inequality and improve housing conditions for Khlong Toei residents.
Community representatives emphasized the importance of grassroots initiatives, referencing past housing projects such as Baan Eua Arthorn and Baan Puea Khon Thai. They stressed the need for stable housing and discussed plans for development using State Railway of Thailand land. Additionally, healthcare needs were addressed, with requests for a dialysis center, hospital expansion, and a physiotherapy center. The absence of public transportation services was also highlighted, with a call for the reinstatement of bus route 72.
Mr. Suriya addressed these issues, affirming that private sector involvement in housing construction is feasible and will be pursued if the Pheu Thai Party leads the government. He reiterated the party's commitment to healthcare initiatives, including the continuation of the 30-baht universal healthcare scheme.
In his address, Mr. Yotsanan reaffirmed the party's dedication to tackling inequality, particularly in education and healthcare. He outlined plans for vocational education projects and emphasized the importance of AI accessibility in education. He also highlighted the readiness of the Pheu Thai Party to implement policies if elected, urging voters to support both the candidate and the party.
The campaign in Khlong Toei saw Mr. Yotsanan engaging directly with residents, receiving their well-wishes, and acknowledging the longstanding support for the Pheu Thai Party. The visit underscored the party's commitment to addressing community concerns and improving the quality of life for Khlong Toei residents.
