Oct 21 – Join the mourning ceremony for Thai workers who died from a bomb explosion on the Israel-Lebanon border. Send the body back to their hometown. Prepare to hold a religious ceremony in Buriram.
Today (October 21, 2024) at 10.00 a.m. (Israel local time, which is 4 hours behind Thailand), Ms. Pannapa Chantrarom, Ambassador to Tel Aviv, along with officials from the Royal Thai Embassy and the Labor Department, represented Thailand in attending the mourning ceremony and sending the body of Mr. Nisant, a Thai worker in Israel who died from an unexploded bomb on October 11, 2024 at the Yir’on Agricultural Estate in northern Israel on the border with Lebanon, back to Thailand at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. The Israeli representatives included Mr. Moshe Arbel, Minister of the Interior; Mr. Eyal Siso, Director-General of the Population and Immigration Bureau; Mr. Sagi Karni, Director-General of the Department of Asia-Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and senior officials from the Department of Consular
Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Mr. Asaf Shwartz, Mr. Nisant’s employer.
On this occasion, the Israeli Interior Minister lit candles to pay respect to the deceased, followed by the Ambassador who laid a wreath to pay respect to the deceased and expressed his condolences and thanked all participants for taking the time to travel to send off Mr. Nisant’s body on an Israeli public holiday, which is considered a great honor for the deceased. The Israeli Interior Minister expressed his condolences on behalf of the Israeli government and reiterated that he had ordered relevant Israeli agencies to investigate the incident and prevent it from happening again, and pledged to take good care of Thai workers in Israel and hoped that this incident would not affect the relationship between Thailand and Israel.
Mr. Shwartz, the employer, said that he took good care of Mr. Nisant’s family. Mr. Nisant was a hard worker and was loved by everyone. He expressed his deepest condolences on behalf of himself and a
ll members of the agricultural settlement (kibbutz).
In addition, Mr. Nisant’s body will be sent to Thailand on El Al flight LY 081, arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport on October 22, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. The funeral ceremony will be held in Buriram Province, Mr. Nisant’s hometown. 312.-Thai News Agency
