Thalerngsak Petchsuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of MNRE, said that Thailand recognizes the importance of climate change. and preparedness for adaptation to cope with the impacts of climate change. By foreseeing an important financing mechanism to support Thailand’s climate change operations, MNRE by ONEP as the country’s central coordinating unit on climate change. It has therefore joined forces with the Ministry of Economy and Climate Action. Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) through GIZ under the Global Climate Action Programme. (International Climate Initiative: IKI) established the ThaiCI (Thai Climate Initiative Fund) under the operation of the Environmental Fund. to help drive climate change action in Thailand
Mrs. Natthanit Asavaphusitkul, Director of the Environment Fund Management Division, ONEP, said that the Thai Climate Fund or ThaiCI Fund aims to provide financial support on climate change. both in reducing greenhouse gas emissions (Mitigation) and adapting to climate change (Adaptation), as well as in promoting the capability of Thailand’s climate change operations With a budget of 6.5 million euros, focusing on supporting local government organizations, government agencies, public organizations, educational institutions Environmental NGOs and the private sector to develop projects from relevant sectors to achieve the country’s goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions (Net Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions) by 2065 and prepare to adjust. can recover from the effects of climate change in the future
