Bangkok: His Majesty the King has bestowed the title of "Heroic Military Soldier" upon those who sacrificed their lives to defend national sovereignty, as a special case. The title has been graciously awarded to 14 men who lost their lives in battle while defending the sovereignty of Thailand on the Thai-Cambodian border.
According to Thai News Agency, on December 28, 2025, the Royal Gazette website published an announcement from the Prime Minister's Office regarding the granting of military ranks as a special case. A Royal Decree has been issued granting special military ranks to the 14 Army personnel who died while performing their official duties during an emergency situation.
The promotions are as follows: Sergeant Major Thawatchai Busapha, Sergeant Major Theerayut Sijuijai, Sergeant Major Anothai Pongkaew, and Sergeant Major Apirom Songphutti have been promoted to Major General, with effective dates ranging from July 25 to July 28, 2025.
Additionally, Sergeant Major Jirayu Singhon, Sergeant Major Noppon Boonlert, Sergeant Major Kritsada Noikot, and Sergeant Major Jirayus Intuman have been promoted to Major, effective from July 25, 2025. Sergeant Amarin Phasuk has also been promoted to Major, effective July 28, 2025.
Corporal Sarawut Namsawat received a promotion to Captain as of July 25, 2025. Meanwhile, Private Waranchit Yuangsuwan and Private Yanaphat Kotsakha have been promoted to Second Lieutenant, effective from July 24 and July 26, 2025, respectively. Lastly, Private Sirawich Pinyosuk and Private Theerayut Krajangthong have been promoted to Second Lieutenant, with promotions effective from July 28, 2025.
The announcement of these promotions was made public on December 26, 2025, highlighting the nation's gratitude and recognition of the supreme sacrifice made by these soldiers.
